Black Death
A purely underground A5 metal zine out of Sydney, Australia — and one Malcolm has been writing for since 2008, lending a hand to a fellow traveller in the scene.
Since sometime in 2008, I’ve been giving a helping hand to my metal brother Fabian in Sydney, Australia — writing articles for his A5 zine, Black Death.
It’s a rag that, in its short life, has been steadily establishing itself as a small but significant voice for the metal underground in Sydney, with five issues to its credit so far. My contributions run to festival reviews, scene reports and the occasional album review — the sort of hands-on, paper-and-staples journalism that keeps the real underground breathing.
Fabian runs Black Death the old way on purpose — photocopied, hand-assembled A5 pages, traded and mailed the way underground zines always have been. Over the years my pages for it have covered festivals I’ve stood in the crowd for, scene reports from the places I’ve passed through, and the occasional record worth the ink. Rather than just point you off-site, the actual scanned pages are laid out in full further down this page.
